New Moon phase – Moon in Pisces
Today I want to explain a little something about why the Moon is in Pisces, even though we just had the New Moon in Aquarius two days ago. This is an FAQ for me > and the answer is simple.
A New Moon “happens” when the Sun and the Moon are at the same point in the zodiac. You don’t need to get far more technical than that. There are 360 degrees on the zodiac. The Sun takes a year to move through all the signs (in fact, it takes us Earthlings a year to go around the Sun) and the Moon spins around the Earth as we spin around the Sun. Still with me?
So when the Moon gets to the same spot on the zodiac as the Sun, we get the New Moon. Yes, it’s a bit complicated. But wait there’s more.
The Moon is much faster moving than the Sun “moves” on the zodiac. After making the New Moon by being at the same point on the zodiac, the Moon doesn’t stop moving. So in the case of this month, there was the New Moon in Aquarius and the Moon kept moving (as did the Sun) and the Moon moved from Aquarius to neighbouring sign Pisces where it can be found today.
