As you might have read, here and elsewhere, Venus, the planet of beauty and love, will soon start to do a retrograde cycle. This happens about once every 18 months.
But this is a big one. If I were Lisa Lister or Leonie Dawson, I’d probably call it “a fucking big one!”
I am writing this the day after the women’s marches. I was there in spirit. It was amazing seeing it on tv and the internet.
I have to admit that since I saw former Senator and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton get beaten by a man who thinks it’s ok to “grab women by their pussies”, I have felt somewhat in shock.
DISCLAIMER: I know a lot of people who read these pages voted for Trump and to that I can only respectfully say each to their own… Feel free to look away now and have a nice day, sister/brother!
Hillary lost the electoral colleges by 80,000 votes and won the popular vote by 3 million.
Scorpio Hillary is the phoenix, OH so appropriately, since the phoenix is so Scorpionic, rising from the ashes as it does. Will she rise again? Perhaps not with another run at President but perhaps still working? What she does next will tell us a lot about who she is.
I remember feeling so strongly the day after Hillary lost that I had to stop being complacent about the state of women in the world. Her loss galvanised me into action, and evidently I wasn’t alone, judging by the women’s march crowds!
Which is where the upcoming Venus retrograde cycle comes into it, at least for me, because of the clear astrological symbolism.
I grew up in a world where older women told me I should be grateful to them for the women’s lib work they did.
Despite what they said, I think I still took what they did for granted. Entitled middle class white child that I am.
The patriarchy mocked the whole “women’s lib” movement and women starting avowing “I’m not a feminist” as if being a feminist was a bad thing. That’s the way the patriarchy deals with us these days, mocking us into obscurity, now that they can’t legally burn us.
What does it say for the women who voted for Trump? All I can say is I know a lot of people who read these pages voted for Trump so … “each to their own”.
But back to Venus retrograde … it’s always a time to redefine the feminine under this cycle. We are seeing that with the millions of women out there wearing pink pussycat hats.
So what does it mean to be a woman? Are we still oppressed, after all? Venus will rx in Aries, the first sign of the zodiac, during this cycle. It’s like a reset button on the feminine.
Questions about women will come up now. Women need to see where they are preaching sisterhood and practising something else.
Remember, Venus is femininity, beauty and womanhood … but she is also all about vanity. Venus asks “Who’s the most beautiful girl in the room? Tell me!”
And as an aside to all this Venus talk, it’s also interesting to see how Michelle Obama, the mother, has been beloved by many who detest Hillary, the crone.
