The other day I had a bit of a drama on my Special Messages newsletter list that goes out to about 30k people.

I made a lot of Donald Trump fans upset by – in the context of talking about the upcoming Venus retrograde – reminding them that Donald Trump had famously said about how he like to grab women’s genitals.

The fact that this effectively spawned hundreds of women’s marches is the stuff Venus retrograde 2017 is made of.

My actual words were: I have to admit that since I saw former Senator and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton get beaten by a man who thinks it’s ok to “grab women by their p*****”, I have felt somewhat in shock.

So what? It’s a fact. Hillary did hold those positions, Donald did say that and I am in shock.

I got a lot of hate mail and I am a sensitive person, so it can hurt. Here’s a little screen grab of a few of them.

Nice, right? (That last word is judgemental, by the way).

But then? What did I do? I apologised.

I apologised because I actually didn’t intend to offend. In fact, when I wrote the original post (which you can read here) I actually had disclaimer, which basically said; if you are a Trump supporter, I might not agree with you, but I defend your right to an opinion and thus must tolerate it…

This disclaimer didn’t make it into the newsletter as I truncated the message which was quite long. Silly me!

Actually I was inspired to offer the disclaimer by Casey Neistat, who is a top youtuber the kids love. At the time of the election, Casey was really good at navigating the fact that many of his 5 million subscribers vote for Trump. I found his approach brilliant and respectful.

I have to be tolerant the way I am asking other people to be tolerant of my opinion… I have to be respectful of other peoples’ opinions.

How can I teach my child tolerance and respect if I am intolerant and disrespectful?

So I come out on the side of practising tolerance and respect.

Is that ok? Am I letting sisterhood down? I don’t think so. I am sure some of my more impassioned friends might think I am being too soft.

It’s about wanting to send love out into the world. Really. I know that might sound like rainbows and unicorns but it’s the truth.

I thought I would share this info with you, not least because yet again, I can see the Venus retrograde symbolism.

Venus rx can also be about re-feeling the bliss of what it felt like back in the day when life was simple and we were more tolerant… it can be about digging deep to remember how you relate to others … it can be about remembering who your sisters really are …
